As stated in the Warranty Terms section found in the Usage and Installation Manuals provided with our products, the warranty period begins upon activation by Kodsan Authorized Service. With approval from the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey, KODSAN A.Ş. is covered by a warranty for manufacturing defects for a period of 2 years.
For your water heater to have a long lifespan and ensure continuous comfortable and healthy hot water usage, it is necessary to perform periodic checks and maintenance on your water heater. Both periodic and additional maintenance procedures should be carried out by Kodsan Authorized Technical Services as required.
In products such as water heater and accumulation tanks with enamel coating, cleaning should never be done using the chemical cleaning method. The cleaning process should be carried out using pressurized water from the cleaning flange of the product. During cleaning, sharp or piercing tools should not be used to avoid damaging the enamel. Our buffer tanks, on the other hand, being used in closed systems, require cleaning when the system they are a part of undergoes maintenance
Our Hot Water Heaters and Storage Tanks are manufactured and tested according to the 2014/68/EU Pressure Equipment Directive, TS EN 13445-3, TS 736, TS EN 12897, and DIN4753-3 standards.
In our enamel-coated products (water heaters, and accumulation tanks), the maximum operating temperature is 95°C, and the maximum withstand pressure depends on the product model, ranging between 6 and 10 bars.
For buffer tanks, the maximum operating temperature is 95°C, and the maximum withstand pressure depends on the product model, ranging between 4 and 6 bars.
Up to 50% concentrated ethylene glycol can be used in hot water. Our coils can handle a water+glycol mixture of up to 50%. However, the validity of using up to 50% mixture for coils is subject to the overall limitations of the system, such as temperature, pressure, and water chemistry, including other piping and sealing elements apart from the coil used in the hot water system. For instance, if the use of glycol is not permitted in the boiler or heat pump of the system, the validity of using up to 50% mixture for the coil becomes obsolet
According to water heater production standards, it can operate with hot water or boiling water up to 250 kPa (2.5 bar) and temperatures up to 110°C. Hot water and steam cannot be used.
In enamel-coated products, waters that meet the criteria summarized below and approved by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey can be used.
In summary, for minimizing corrosion damage, the chemical properties of the water used should fall within the limit values provided in the table below.
Limit values |
|
pH |
6,5 – 9,5 |
Conductivity at 20°C |
200-1500 µS/cm |
Total Hardness: |
7 – 20 °Fr |
Chloride (Cl) |
≤150 mg/l |
Sulfate(SO42-) |
≤150 mg/l |
Other sources such as artesian wells, boreholes, etc., cannot be used unless their analyses comply with the above table.
The use of waters treated with reverse osmosis systems is not suitable because their pH and conductivity values may fall outside the limits provided in the Usage and Installation Manuals.
According to DIN 1988, the schematic and material list of the recommended components for the cold water supply piping in water heaters are provided below.
It is a requirement for warranty that a safety valve (item 10) is installed to prevent the tank pressure from exceeding its maximum withstand pressure, while an expansion tank (item 11), especially, is highly recommended to ensure the enamel coating’s long-term service without issues. The utilization and sizing of other piping elements should be determined by your project engineer or technical installer based on the system’s requirements.

Each water heater must be equipped with its own safety valve, installed in such a way that there is no other equipment between the water heater and the valve.
It is mandatory to use a fully lifting diaphragm safety valve compliant with EN 1487 standard. For devices with a maximum operating pressure of 10 bars, a safety valve with 8 bars must be used; for products with a maximum operating pressure of 6 bars, a valve with 5 bars must be used, and for products with a maximum operating pressure of 4 bars, a valve with 3 bars must be used.
Please contact Kodsan Technical Sales department for the selection of safety valves.
In water heaters, adjustable type safety valves are absolutely not used. If an adjustable type safety valve is used, your product will be excluded from the warranty coverage.
Our water heaters and similar products are designed for indoor use. They are not suitable for outdoor use
TP safety valves prevent both the tank body from being damaged by excessive pressure by preventing the pressure from exceeding the nominal working pressure of the water heater, as in other pressure relief (safety) valves, and prevent the water in the tank from turning into steam by draining it when the water heater temperature exceeds 95°C in case of malfunction with the safety thermostat inside.
For the KEB model KODSAN Electric Boilers, please contact our technical sales team for the recommended electrical power according to the tank volume and the continuous hot water flow rates that can be produced with this setup.
At the ordering stage, additional heating elements can be installed in water heaters, accumulation tanks, and heating buffer tanks as required. Additionally, electric heating elements can be mounted on the cleaning covers of our water heaters. Information on where the heaters can be installed can be found in our catalogs at https://kodsan.com.tr/tr/destek/dokumanlar/. For details, please contact our Technical Department.
After the factory exit, the installation of electric heaters on our water heaters can only be carried out by KODSAN Authorized Services. Otherwise, the water heater will be excluded from the KODSAN warranty coverage.
The plug-and-play heaters have double safety thermostats. In panel products, the safety of the electric heaters is provided by the thermostat on the panel.
The connection of the cables to the panel should be done by the user. Kodsan authorized service only checks its compliance. The responsibility for providing adequate power, grounded, clean, and technically appropriate electrical energy is the user’s. For detailed information on this matter, you can reach out to our technical department and refer to our user manuals.
The maximum water hardness allowed for use in electric water heaters is 20°Fr.
Cathodic protection is a method of protecting the water heater body against corrosion using magnesium anodes.
Standard magnesium anodes must be checked every 6 months and replaced once a year.
Turn off the cold water inlet valve and contact Kodsan authorized service.
We have plug-and-play model heating elements with 2 and 3 kW electric power, which operate at 220V, and can be used in multiple water heaters.
As stated in the Warranty Conditions section of the User and Installation Manuals provided with our products, the warranty period begins with the commissioning by Kodsan Authorized Service.
For products under warranty, our specified procedures are applied according to our quality standards.
For detailed information, please contact Kodsan Technical Service.
No, it cannot be done. If done, it will damage the coating in the area.
No, it cannot be done.
No, it does not. There is no relationship between limescale formation and magnesium anode.
If the heating element of the heater is not damaged, exploded or swollen due to limescale, it can be cleaned depending on the amount and type of limescale. This process should be carried out by an authorized electrician.
Product selection depends on many factors, including the number of rooms, the availability of solar energy, water heaters, heat pumps, and other products, as well as consumption characteristics. If you contact our authorized technical sales representatives, they will provide you with general information on product selection and usage, even if you are not at the project planning stage.

The lifespan of the device is declared as 10 years by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, provided that it is installed, maintained and used in accordance with the correct instructions specified in the device’s user manuals. However, this period is not the warranty period.
A magnesium anode is mounted on the aforementioned sleeve (which looks like a blind plug) for cathodic protection of the water heater. Do not remove it, do not connect a valve such as a safety valve drain.
This sleeve is for the connection of a safety valve, which is called a TP valve and protects the water heater both at the upper temperature limit and at the upper pressure.
In addition to a standard grounding system that is technically appropriate for our electrical devices, static electricity grounding with a copper rod from the top of the tank is recommended.
If the safety valve opening pressure is equal to or lower than the tank pressure, no water should leak from the safety valve.
In other cases, the water coming from the safety valve indicates that the valve is working.
Yes, an expansion tank should be used. Heated water expands, which increases the pressure in the system. The expansion tank absorbs this increased pressure and balances it, helping the system to operate at the desired performance.
There is no need to apply two coats of correct and high-quality enamel. An enamel coating of at least 180µ and at most 500µ, which complies with the DIN4753/3 standard, is sufficient.
Kodsan water heaters use enamel material and enameling methods that are certified by the international WRAS certificate for suitability for water storage in a hygienic environment.
We recommend our KXS and KXD model water heaters for low primary circuit temperature applications.
For heat pump boiler selection, please contact our technical sales staff.
